Dobbs Tennis Courts was founded by former Baylor #1 Ranked Tennis player and tennis pro Danny K Dobbs (1955-2024) and has been around over 40 years. Danny’s legacy is being carried on through the company which has stayed in the family. Tennis was Danny’s passion and building quality courts is ours.
Kelly Forbes was born in Nanaimo, British Columbia. He came to the US in 1998 on a golf scholarship to East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. He transferred to OU and finished his college career playing hockey for the Sooners ACHA Div 1 club hockey team. Kelly spent 14 seasons as the Dallas Stars video coach before changing careers and becoming a tennis court man with Dobbs Tennis. He is enjoying the change of pace while focusing on maintaining existing relationships and building the company. A nice bonus is spending a lot more time with his family than he did as a hockey coach! He has three kids- Isaac, 22, Ryder, 10, and Anna, 7.

Herman is the lead foreman for DTC and has been with the company since 1985. Herman was one of Danny’s first hires and he has worked through all kinds of challenges over the years to help take the company to new horizons. Herman now trains, develops, and leads all of our crews and is passing along his 40 years of experience building beautiful tennis courts! Some standout moments in Herman’s career were surfacing premier courts with Davis Cup for Dobbs Tennis twice in San Diego and Fort Worth, and taking a challenge to build courts in the Caribbean with Danny. Herman even knows how to make the paint and has been called a “batch maker” or a “master coater”. Herman works with multiple repeat customers and has developed relationships with facilities all over Texas!

Field manager / coordinator of Austin operations with over 27 years in the business. Joe practically grew up with Dobbs Tennis Courts and has grown to be a valuable leader and an intergral part of the company. He has been an apprentice to some of the best in the business and has managed to learn a broad variety of skills relevant to construction, design, surfacing, and electrical. “I love what I do and the people I work with. And most of all the values that DTC has always held dear.”

JOE DE LA CRUZ
Julie is Danny’s daughter and Kelly’s wife and she is excited to be involved with Dobbs Tennis Courts to help carry on her dad’s legacy. Julie will be helping with administration/PR/social media/business development/project management and whatever the team needs along the way. Julie has so many wonderful memories watching her dad build the company and being on the tennis courts as a kid. She wishes she played more growing up but is trying to make up for it now. She is a (sometimes) 4.0 ladies tennis player today as well as a new pickleball addict. The tennis court is her happy place (when the opponents aren’t lobbers or making bad line calls) and she is excited to be a part of growing the company and the sport. Julie has been a DFW sports media personality for 23 years, working on Fox Sports Southwest, 1310 The Ticket, and currently hosting her podcast/show on Fox 4, The Mom Game.
